The short version

What is Pinot Noir?

Thin-skinned and famously sensitive to place, Pinot Noir can translate small differences in climate and soil into distinct aromas. Burgundy is its historic home, but excellent examples now come from many cool regions.

Look for cherry, raspberry, cranberry, rose, mushroom, and gentle spice. It usually has bright acidity and fine tannins, making it one of the easiest red wines to pair across a varied dinner table.
